The GEEK Series
Originally conceived as a 4-track LP, the Geek Series showcases Joe’s nerd sensibilities while evolving his craft to new places. These three singles (Sith, Gook, and Walk Thru) offer unique lens into themes of emotional duality, racial prejudice, and spiritual acceptance.
Sith is a transition song from the world of Happyboy into a new wave of sound.
Gook discusses Asian identity through the sounds of video games and the history of America, especially in a time of racial tension and divide.
And Walk Thru, inspired by the hit TV show The Good Place, is an anthem of love, death, and friendship.
Work in Progress
Joe Sung-Rae’s debut album, WiP represents the eclectic nature of youth and development, showcasing different aspects of Joe’s life, from awkward social interactions to the intimacy of wearing earphones. With the help of friends and fellow artists, Joe realized that no matter what, at whatever stage a project is at, it is always a work in progress.
And luckily, work in progress is now remixed and remastered.
Happyboy
happyboy is the 2nd full-length album from joe sung-rae, a passion project that has taken 2 years to conceive and create. With mixing christian deknatel and mastering by johnny dalton, the album explores the innocence of childhood combatting against the anxieties of adulthood. Tracks such as “Don’t talk to me” and “Lullaby”, which tackle depression and insomnia, are cut with personal vhs audio and interviews with close friends.
